The President of Boston Chargers

Walter West is an alum of Pop Warner football who played as a kid growing up, also he has coached back in 2008–2009, rejoined as a coach in 2021, and now a President of the Boston Chargers. He grew up in a violent part of the city in Boston and was inspired to help make a change in his community. Walter is a devoted father and a great coach to his athletes. He has a strong support from his family and friends.

Coaching Staff

Our coaching staff comes from a very diverse community in Boston. We have found that sports bring children together. Playing competitive sports helps to build their self-esteem, confidence, and learn how to handle responsibilities.

The organization want to give children a chance to not only enjoy every moment of being a kid, but also grow within themselves as well. Majority of us did not make it to the next level because of our grades and the lack of support. So many of us were in afterschool programs, which did not fully address some of our most critical needs such as mental health, gang/youth violence prevention, and life skills. We would like to include programming about some of these to our participants. 

Mission Statement

Our mission is to keep students engaged in school and to use football as a tool to reach their full potential. 

Goal

“It's more than just a game”, changing the Pop Warner culture by including other options next to sports. Our goal is to focus on the students' lives on and off the field. By challenging them academically with hands-on workshops, and after school tutoring, we will see our kids flourish academically, mentally, and physically. We want our student athletes to be able to get the best of both worlds, on and off the field. During the season we will be hosting student study sessions, so they will be able to get the extra help they need, not only during the season but also during the school year.
